The Staff at The Dance Gallery


Whenever you arrive at the studio you will greeted by one of our friendly, helpful office staff members - Dyanne and Jo-Lynn. Both are Mothers of current or former Dance Gallery students therefore they all know first hand what questions you might have during your dance experience. Please do not hesitate to ask them for help at any time. Keep in mind however for privacy purposes there may be some information they are not at liberty to share.

Miss Sheila

Sheila is the studio's Artistic Director, as well as a choreographer who teaches at all levels from creative movement to our most advanced dancers. She has more than 30 years experience in performing and teaching and has spent the last 12 years at The Dance Gallery.

She began her dance study at Amherst Ballet Center when she was 5 years old and has been dancing ever since. She has studied Ballet, Pointe,Modern,Jazz, Lyrical,and Contemporary at many prestigious schools such as Garden State Ballet, Princeton Ballet, the Boston Conservatory, and the School of Boston Ballet.

She has danced professionally with the Princeton Ballet, the Hartford Ballet and the Connecticut Opera Company. An injury early in her professional career changed the focus of her dance life from performing to teaching. She is an award winning choreographer and performer as well as having trained many award winning dancers in her 18 year teaching career. She has continued her study of dance at a variety of workshops including the Jump convention. Her classes stress proper technique and terminology in a positive, professional environment.

When Sheila is not at the studio she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 sons.

Miss Hilary

Hilary is our administrative director as well as teacher/choreographer. Hilary studied at the Marie Shaw School of Dance for 15 years and also served as an assistant instructor there for 3 years. She is trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Pointe, Hip-Hop, Partnering and Musical Theatre. During her training she attended the NYC Dance Alliance conventions as well as competing at those events.

She has performed as part of the Reading Phillies Dance Team, the Reading Express Smokinʼ Hot Steam Team and the Reading Raptors Spirit Squad. She has also performed in local theatre at Rainbow Dinner Theatre and Blatt Dinner Theatre.

She has been teaching for 13 years and has been with The Dance Gallery for 4 years.

Miss Jess

Jess has been dancing since was 3 years old and has studied at numerous studios in the area including The Dance Gallery. She began student teaching when she was 14 and was given her first teaching opportunity at 16.

She has taught at The Dance Gallery for 6 years and specializes in Acro, Jazz, and Tap. She has always had a passion for competing and continues to attend area competitions not only as a performer but also has students who compete as well.

She enjoys volunteering her dancing talent at the senior centers, schools and community events. She recently graduated from Alvernia University with a BS in Biology and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree at Kutztown University.

Miss Catrina

Catrina has been dancing since she was 3 years old at a number of studios in Berks.  Her love of dance began at the Yocum Institute and progressed through Dance Centers, Dance Pointe Studio, Marilyn’s Dance Studio, Berks Ballet and Rhythm in Motion Dance Company.  She does classical ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary and modern dance.

Catrina is most proud of being Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker, performed at the Kutztown University.

Whether it is performing or teaching she loves sharing the passion of dance with others.

Miss Donna

Donna  studied dance for 14 years at Dance Dynamics and gymnastics for 8 years at Funtastics Gymnastics.  Donna was also a cheerleader for 7 years during her school years.  Donna studied a variety of dance including tap, jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop.

She also served as a teaching assistance for more than 3 years during her dance training.  She is excited to teach different levels of our tumblers.

Miss Leila

Leila stared dancing when she was 3 years old in her hometown in southern New Jersey.  She studied many types of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, and lyrical.  Leila was a member of her studio’s competition team where she was given many opportunities to perform at competitions, community events and dance conventions.

Leila attended Temple University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education.  While attending college she had the opportunity to take jazz classes that helped broaden her knowledge of the style.

Leila is excited to be a part of The Dance Gallery team and hopes to instill the love of dance and performance in all her students.
